Greengage arboriculture & ecology offers integrated ecological services including species and habitat survey, protected species advice, guidance on habitat management and invasive species advice.

Our services include:

Habitat and Vegetation surveys

Greengage carries out a range of habitat and vegetation surveys including Extended Phase 1, River Corridor Surveys, walk-over surveys and NVC vegetation surveys.  

Protected Species

Our ecological expertise includes species survey and advice on managing a range of protected species such as water voles, badgers and white-clawed crayfish.

We also provide guidance on protected species licensing issues and can prepare licence applications if appropriate.

Invasive Species

Greengage carries out surveys and produces management strategies and specifications for the control of invasive species such as Japanese knotweed, giant hogweed and
Himalayan balsam.

Ecological Impacts and Mitigation

Greengage carries out Ecological Impact Assessments to assess the impact of development proposals on species and habitats of ecological value.  

We also design species and habitat mitigation and enhancement schemes to comply with legal and planning requirements.

Where site supervision is required, we undertake ecological clerk of works duties to ensure that protected species and habitats are safeguarded during construction works.

Ecological Management

Greengage provides advice on habitat management, enhancement and creation.  We offer technical guidance on a wide range of techniques including:

●  Watercourse restoration

●  Wetland and pond creation and management

●  Woodland and scrub creation and management

●  Grassland creation and management
 

We also produce Ecological Management Plans to guide the management of sites.

Agriculture and Forestry

Greengage offers specialist ecological advice relating to rural land management.  We are able to produce Farm Environment Plans (FEP) to support Higher Level Stewardship applications.  

We carry out woodland surveys including NVC surveys,  surveys under the Forestry Commission Woodland Assessment Grant and a range of woodland-related species surveys.

Where necessary, this advice is supplemented by survey skills and recommendations from our arboricultural team.
